Getting ready for Christmas
December 7, 2009

Last weekend we put up the Christmas tree, Angela was so excited. As you can imagine I had a lot of ornaments on the bottom of the tree so I finally had to send the girls outside so that I could rearrange all the ornaments.

Welcome To Our Journal

When we started the whole adoption journey in November 2004 we went into it thinking that we wanted to add another little girl to our family so that Gabby would have a sibling close to her age.  With our son, Ryan, being 17 years older than Gabby we knew that we didn't want to raise another "only child".  After a very long and painful adoption process we were blessed to bring Mia Darlin home from Guatemala on December 29, 2005.

Who would have known that during our adoption journey we would have both felt a true bond to the people of Guatemala and felt drawn to the children that remained in the hogar (orphanage) where Mia lived for 7 months.  Without even really discusing it, we both continued to look at photolistings of the children waiting for forever homes and Joan continued to stay active in the Guatemala adoption community.  When the talks about Guatemala being shut down as a country that Americans could adopt from we both wondered what would happen to the children.  So even though we originally had no intent to adopt again, in February 2007 we started the adoption journey again and have been blessed with another wonderful Princesa, Angela Maria.  We invite our friends and family to share in our journey through our adoption journal.

Our Daughter Angela Maria

Our Angelita (Little Angela) was born on October 18, 2005 in La Antigua, Guatemala. On February 12 2007, our agency sent us her picture and we knew that she would be part of our family forever. Here is one of our favorite photos of our sweet little girl from her medical exam in March 2007. How could anyone look at those chubby little cheeks and not fall in love?

Not flesh of my flesh
Nor bone of my bone,
Yet still miraculously my own.
Never forget for a single minute
That you weren’t born under my heart,
but in it.
