We have a fingerprint appointment!
And counting down to Nick's Gotcha Day
August 6, 2008
We received our letters in the mail from the USCIS saying that we have fingerprint appointments for August 14. Then we will wait to receive the approval back from them. I don't know if it is still called the I-171 since everything changed, but what (more)...

Welcome To Our Journal
Welcome to our adoption website! We hope you enjoy reading about our journey to get our son Nicholas from China. Here is an excerpt from our first entry on this website about a year ago. At that time, we knew nothing about Nicholas. "We do not always know what is coming up next on this journey. What we do know is who is driving our "car" through this process. We trust our Heavenly Father to take us to our destination safely and in His perfect time. The road that God selects is always best for us. We know that we could not get through this process without the daily presence of Jesus Christ in our lives. We hope that this site will give Him praise and honor." Well, we definitely did not know what was coming. In October of 2005, we felt like God was leading us to adopt a child from China. We knew there were many baby girls available for adoption in China. So in March of 2006, we began the process to adopt a little baby girl from China. We decided we would name her Rylie- a combination of our names. We worked for the rest of the year on paperwork and finally submitted our paperwork to China in January 2007. We had no idea God already had picked out our son for us and he was living in an orphanage in Henan, China. In April, we saw Nick's picture and both agreed "That is our son." We found out by early May we would be able to move forward with adopting him. We waited to tell most people until after Julie's sister's wedding in June, so the information on our journey to get Nick begins in the June 2007 journal entries (on the left side bar). God has blessed us "immeasurably more than we could ask or think." We fell in love with Nick when we saw his picture but getting to know him over the past six months has made us love him more and more. We can't wait to go back to China and adopt again. Of course, we would still like to get our Rylie girl, but Nick seems to have his heart set on getting a brother. So we will wait and see what God has planned for us. And yes, we have begun working on paperwork again although we can't technically submit it to China yet. The wait may be long, but we know Nick was worth the wait and the next little blessing will be worth the wait, too.

And what a blessing He is! He's the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in Him. Long before He laid down earth's foundations, He had us in mind, and settled on us as the focus of His love, to be made whole and holy by His love. Long, long ago He decided to adopt us into His family through Jesus Christ." Ephesians 1:3-5 (The Message)
