Special Needs Child
February 18, 2005

I don't have a lot to journal at this point. We have been in the waiting game for a few weeks since our fingerprinting was done.

We were sent an email listing several special needs children. Many of them had heart disease or other problems. Tricia and I talked at length about possibly adopting a little boy who was missing all of his fingers on one hand. We received more information about him and sought counsel from a pediatrician and from others. After a lot of thought we decided there were enough unknowns for us without adding more, so we have decided to continue on the course we are presently on.

I think all of our documents are in order except the I-600 Form we are waiting on from the USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services). Once that comes then we will send our dossier to the various Secretaries of State for state certification.

Oh, another thing: We have some friends in the church who are missionaries to Brazil who have also begun the process of adopting a child from China. It has been fun to have that small connection with someone else who is also doing this.
