"Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world."

James 1:27

The past six days were essentially like any other days. Get up, go through my regular routine and go to bed, except for some amazing glints and glimmers of God's grace and provision.

Last Thursday I received an email from "Nanny Joy" about a family in need. This family had received a referral for a little girl in South Korea—her name is Chloe. After a period of time following their referral they were notified that because they were short on funds they would lose their referral unless they could come up with the money before this past Monday.

After reading Joy's email, my heart slowed as I could only imagine the pain and loss this family would experience if they were never united with their little girl. I began to wonder what could be done.

I thought about it a bit and called Joy to bounce an idea off her. Could we use YouBelong to alert people to the need? Could Joy arrange for funds to be donated through Global Grace (an outreach arm of her church, Morning Star Baptist, to meet the needs of people who are in the midst of a crisis)? Joy immediately went into action and created a page on Global Grace's website to explain the need.

Over the course of the next six days we saw God's love for orphans as He used His people across America to give and make others aware through their blogs and websites.

Enough money had come in by Monday that the adoption agency gave them an extention to the end of this week. By noon today God provided close to $7,000 (the amount needed) for this family to bring their little Chloe home.

I cannot help but marvel at God's willingness to meet needs and how He gives grace right when we need it. I praise Him for allowing me to see His gracious hand at work in the life of the Murschells.

I also offer my thanks to all the individuals who sacrificially gave, knowing they would likely never meet Chloe and see the fruit of their generosity.

A lady from Wisconsin wrote:

I wrote an hour ago or so to say that we were sending $100 toward the Chloe fund... I mentioned this to our three adopted-from-Ukraine kiddos, and they rushed to empty their piggy-banks to help too... They didn’t have much, but they are excited to contribute $6 more dollars toward bringing Chloe home.

May God bless everyone who gave. Thank you.
