Our new home?
February 13, 2007

Tricia, Grace, and I flew up to Rockford this past weekend and began the arduous task of finding a house. We were referred to a real estate agent, Kathy Baird, who attends Morning Star Baptist Church. Having emailed back and forth with her in the weeks leading up to our trip, we were excited to meet her.

We arrived Thursday evening and were greeted by our hosts, the Berrymans, who graciously allowed us to make their house our home base. (Be sure to follow their journal as they are in the process of an adoption themselves.)

Kathy drove Tricia and me around Rockford all day Friday and Saturday, and while it was exhausting, we had a great time. I must say that Kathy did a lot work on our behalf, both before we arrived, while were there, and since we've been home.

Sunday we were able to worship with the people at Morning Star as they observed the Lord's supper. It was a wonderful time remembering Christ's work on our behalf. As I walked into the nursery to get Grace after the service, I couldn't help but smile as there were seven little tikes running around. Of the seven, five were adopted—Two from Russia, two from Korea, and Gracie Lu. It was neat to see the church's heart for adoption.

We flew back Sunday evening late and arrived home at about 2 a.m.

Over the past two days we have been in the process of making an offer on a home, and earlier this afternoon our offer was accepted! Of course, this is contingent on us closing on our house in Rocky Mount. We are very excited about what the Lord is doing and has already done for us.

We LOVE the house. As soon as we walked in we sensed a great deal of charm and were thrilled that it would be big enough for our family of seven!

It is nestled amongst some mature hardwoods—which will be a completely new experience for me as every house I've ever lived in has been in the wide open. We have already promised the kids that if we are able to move there we will give them a tire swing. Grandpa Davis has already volunteered to donate the rope and tire from his treasure trove (the garage).

Congrats! I love the house! It is very nice. I know the kids will like it. I will be praying for you as you wait for the closing to finish out.

Nice new home Shannon, lots of space for the kids to run around. I pray your Rocky Mount home sells fast for what you are asking!

I love the house. It is very cozy and looks like the kids will have lots of yard to play in. I am so excited for you and sad for our loss of your family.

I love the new house. I can't wait to see it after Tricia decorates it. We enjoyed having the girls over while you had to be away. Alex cried when they had to leave. I wish they had been able to get together more, but I will make sure Alex writes often. Love in Christ, The Parker's
I hope you can make the 2007 Youth Blast?

Hey, I found out that your new house will be less than an hour from Dereck's brother in Elgin :) It's less than 5 hours from our house. Cool, huh? We'll keep praying that the transition goes well for you guys. We'll keep you posted on our house adventures, too.
