Mark and I embarked on our first ever road trip of considerable distance with destinations as far north as Michigan and Ohio. Most people we told thought we were absolutely crazy for taking two young children on an 11 day adventure, but we had so many family members and friends who we wanted to see on our trip. Flying just wasn’t a good option. (more)...

Welcome To Our Journal

Thank you for visiting our site. We are very excited to share our journey to Fu with all of our family and friends. We have had several twists and turns during this adoption, but we hope to travel to China soon to bring our son home. Olivia is beyond excited to finally become a big sister, and we can not wait to become a family of four.

We have appreciated everyone's support during the past 3 years, and we look forward to sharing our adventure of a lifetime with all of you.

Our Son
Native Name: Dang Fu Quan
Birth Date: Jul 27, 06
Birth Place: Luoyang, Henan Province
Log In Date: Nov 8, 06
Referral: Apr 28, 09
Travel Dates: Jul 27, 09 - Aug 15, 09
Agency: CCAI

Dang Fu Quan is only a bit over 33 inches tall and 26 pounds. By American standards this is quite small, but he is actually quite proportional. Mark and I think he has beautiful eyes, and we can not wait to see him smile. He has a repaired cleft lip and palate, so he has already had two surgeries in China. Fu will need additional surgeries as he grows. Fu's personality is described as bashful, quiet and gentle; but he gets along well with familiar people. He likes to look at books and brightly colored pictures, and he likes to listen to the teachers tell stories. Fu also likes to watch cartoons and play with toys. His favorite toys are little cars. He also enjoys playing outside. Fu Quan enjoys eating rice, dumplings, stuffed steamed buns, vegetables, eggs, milk and fruit.

Fu is currently in foster care, and we hope he remains there until we meet him. He has been in foster care since June 20, 2008, which was right after his surgery to correct his palate. Prior to surgery he resided at the Luoyang City Children's Welfare Institute.

We also have a name translation provided by our agency. Dang is a surname. Fu means blessing, and Quan means complete, whole or full.
